Position:
Tenure Track Position to teach undergraduate courses in elementary and middle school education.
Duties:
St. Norbert College welcomes applications for a tenure-line appointment for Assistant Professor of Education. The position begins August 2010. We are a teacher certification program preparing teachers for the regular classroom. The focus of the responsibilities will be to prepare pre-service teachers to work with special needs students in the regular classroom. The successful candidate will teach primarily undergraduate courses in elementary and middle school education. Responsibilities will include teaching courses in Educating Students with Disabilities and at least one additional area of expertise from among: Early Childhood Education, the Arts, English Language Learners, Content areas, or Multicultural Education. The candidate must be a willing collaborator with colleagues in Teacher Education at St. Norbert and in public and private P-12 schools. The successful candidate will work in the P-12 community developing, maintaining, and supervising practicum experiences aligned with the courses taught and be willing and able to develop collaborative programs in the public and private schools.
Experience:
The preferred candidate will have completed or scheduled to complete a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in an educational field and a significant concentration or degree in Special Education. The candidate must be certified or eligible for certification and have 3 years successful teaching experience preferably at the elementary/middle school level. Practical experience integrating technology and a variety of media into teaching is desirable. The candidate will have experience working with diverse communities.
