Introduction

The main purpose of this proposed book is to discuss the potential for meta-communication models to provide distance education people with building and managing reflective online conversations. The unique approach of the proposed publication brings together models for meta-communication, distance education, and reflective online conversations. Based on the title of the book, meta-communication for distance education to support reflective online conversations will preserve the radical frameworks and philosophy that sustain the readers through reflecting not only diverse believes and motivations in a digital world, but also virtual mobility to enhance interactions among cultures, a global economy, marketplaces, and multicultural organizations work forces to develop proper meta-communication skills and abilities to a multicultural digital society. 

 

Objective of the Book

The overall objectives and mission of this proposed publication will focus on the root of the trouble of meta-communication for distance education by emphasizing diverse online cultural backgrounds, poor sharing e-resources, and inadequate e-facilities, as well as underpaid e-labors. In this context, reflective online conversations and meta-communication models will refer to ideas of justice applied to a complete online society based on not only giving digital individuals and groups' fair action, but also sharing the benefits of free online society. On the other hand, the book will focus on what meta-communication means for distance education, and how different political ideologies and different conceptions lie in unbalanced political powers, unequal incomes, and insufficient sources in virtual world. Based on this approach, this will reflect a radical approach in which human rights and equity are manifested in the everyday digital lives of people from every level of online society. These distinguished and careful analyses will be the most important critics of online community actions, and also provide unprejudiced point of views of the progress for meta-communication models against several online opponents. In this context, this book will critically discuss a digital global world where all participants of this online society, regardless of their diverse backgrounds, have indispensable human rights and equal access to their community's prosperities and resources. 

 

Target Audience

This proposed publication can be used for both facilitators/tutors and learners. This publication will be a course supplement book in distance education, online education, reflective online education, and meta-communication. In addition, it will be a unique resource for the researchers, scholars and distance education professionals, and lifelong learners. This proposed book will be a reference book, and also a welcome addition to academic libraries' collections in online education, distance education, meta-communication areas.

Submission Procedure
Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before March 15, 2010, a 1-2 page chapter proposal clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors of accepted proposals will be notified by April 1, 2010 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines. Full chapters are expected to be submitted by July 15, 2010. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project.

This book is scheduled to be published by IGI Global (formerly Idea Group Inc.), publisher of the "Information Science Reference" (formerly Idea Group Reference), "Medical Information Science Reference," "Business Science Reference," and "Engineering Science Reference" imprints.
