Instructional Developer I (UCP VII)
Institute of Teaching and Learning

The Institute of Teaching and Learning at the University of Connecticut is
seeking qualified applications to fill position of Instructional Developer
I.  Successful incumbent will join the Institute’s professional development
staff in an ongoing effort that seeks to enhance the quality of the
undergraduate and graduate programs of the University.  These professionals
deliver support services to some 1100 faculty in 16 schools and colleges.
The University of Connecticut is the state’s flagship university.

The Instructional Developer I will work independently or with faculty and
design teams to design and develop materials and academic courses grounded
in sound educational theory and best practices in instructional design.
Incumbents in this position are expected to effectively integrate the best
practices of instructional design and instructional technology through
faculty development and the use of multimedia, software, programming, and
state of the art technology.

Minimum Qualifications:  Master’s degree in educational technology, computer
science or a closely related field; one to three years of experience in the
area of instructional design/technology or related field; demonstrated
ability in two or more of the following production areas: multimedia
development, software analysis, design, programming for web based
environments, technology support and comprehensive instructional design
(such as active/student-centered learning, authentic assessment, multiple
learning styles, information literacy, and relevant use of technology).
Incumbents must have knowledge of media technology and instructional design
theory; experience and competence with media development tools and course
management systems (i.e. WebCT, Vista/Blackboard, etc.); an ability to
interact and effectively communicate, one-on-one, in a collaborative and
collegial environment; strong presentation skills; and the ability to work
in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:  experience using formative and summative
evaluation methodologies; performing analysis of evaluation and assessment
data; prior experience in higher education with a background in course
design for varying modes of delivery such as face-to-face, blended and/or
online; and a strong work ethic.

This is a full-time, one year, end-date position renewable annually.
