Position Announcement - Manager of Diversity Programs
The Center for Community Partnerships (CCP) at the University of Wisconsin - Parkside invites applications for a full time year round Manager of Diversity Programs. UW-Parkside is among 30 public universities that received the elective Carnegie Classification of "Community Engagement," and the Manager of Diversity Programs plays a key role in maintaining this designation. This individual works to align UW-Parkside and UW System cultural competency and inclusive excellence strategic goals with community priorities. This individual focuses on delivering Diversity Programs in the Kenosha and Racine communities and also supports diversity programming efforts on campus. This individual reports to the Director of Community Development & Dialogues, and works collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders, including other units within the CCP, other UW-Parkside departments and community partners. The Manager of Diversity Programs provides support and leadership in programmatic areas that seek to end racism and other forms of systematic oppression. This individual supervises CCP affiliate programs that address issues such as poverty alleviation, mediation, and cultural competency (e.g. Peace Learning Circles, The HOPES Center, etc.).
Responsibilities:
* Diversity Program Development and Implementation
o Develop and lead community based diversity programs such as Diversity Circles and World Café.
o Train facilitators to lead Diversity Circles.
o Integrate Diversity Circles into Community Based Learning 101 (under the guidance of course faculty) and other student and professional development opportunities.
o Support the development of cultural competency and intercultural competency programs that work to forward the UW-Parkside Strategic Plan.
o Support UW-Parkside campus based diversity initiatives, primarily through integrating external community perspectives into discussions and programs led by university colleagues (e.g. Affirmative Action Committee, LGBTQ efforts, Office of Equity and Diversity, etc.)
o Collaborate with colleagues to forward the UW-System emphasis on "inclusive excellence."
* Affiliate Program Oversight
o Supervise the Peace Learning Circles AmeriCorps*VISTA and serve as the program's liaison to the CCP.
o Supervise the HOPES Center AmeriCorps*VISTA and serve as the program's liaison to the CCP.
o Supervise other emerging affiliate programs that address issues of diversity and poverty.
* Fiscal Management
o Work towards diversity programming financial sustainability and surpluses by generating program revenue, grant awards, contracts, etc.
o Develop and implement diversity program budgets under the guidance and direction of the Community Development & Dialogues Director and the Budget & Policy Analyst
o Monitor expenses for Peace Learning Circles, the HOPES Center and other affiliate programs by reviewing and signing off on expenditures as appropriate.
o Review monthly financial reports for accuracy
Auxiliary Responsibilities:
1. Participate in activities that forward the mission and goals of UW-Parkside.
2. Participate in initiatives that contribute to CD&D, CCP, and UW-Parkside goals (e.g. workforce development, teacher training, and other outreach programs).
3. Participate in relevant CCP meetings (i.e., business meetings, program manager meetings, functional team meetings, and advisory council meetings).
4. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Community Development & Dialogues.
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree in a field related to education, communications, public policy or administration, or social/behavioral sciences.
* Substantive experience in delivering diversity programs and/or facilitating dialogues amongst diverse constituencies.
* Excellent communication skills, particularly regarding written communication and oral presentations.
* Proficiency with computer software used in communication and program development (i.e., Microsoft Office, Internet, E-mail, etc.).
* Understanding of, and experience working with, community-campus partnerships, particularly as they relate to student development and community-based learning and research initiatives.
* Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations and constituencies.
Preferences:
* Masters Degree in a field related to education, communications, public policy or administration, or social/behavioral sciences.
* Five or more years of experience in delivering diversity programs and/or facilitating dialogues amongst diverse constituencies.
* Experience with grant and/or contract management, particularly from state and federal sources.
* Understanding of postsecondary environments and demonstrated ability to work with faculty from a wide range of disciplines.
* Experience coordinating, supervising and/or working in teams responsible for group work, and ability to foster a collaborative, efficient work environment.
