You are invited to join America and Moore, LLC and Cross Cultural
Connections for one or both of these workshops:

Understanding Race Relations*
Do you want to engage in conversations about race but are worried about
saying the wrong thing? Do you experience racial tensions in your personal
or professional life but don’t know why? Are your views on race changing
and/or evolving? This one day introductory workshop is designed for
individuals who want to understand how race matters in the 21st century.
Participants will engage in activities designed to increase your awareness
of diverse experiences.
*Day II
Friday, August 21, 2009
Power, Privilege and Leadership*
White supremacy, privilege and power are among the most charged issues
facing us today and all members of society are affected by this. Yet most
forums that address race focus on oppressed or underprivileged groups,
leaving over privileged perspectives, experiences and identity normalized
and unexplored. This workshop will shift the focus and provide an
opportunity for participants to learn leadership skills while reflecting on
what it means to be White, privileged and powerful within a society that is
racially stratified.
Learning Outcomes
Participants will…
1. Develop a common language for entering into discourse;
2. Increase their understanding of diverse experiences and perspectives;
3. Learn common ways privilege manifests itself on an institutional and
personal level;
4. Understand issues of privilege/power comprehensively and how these issues
relate to leadership in the 21st century.
