6th Annual Summit on Social Justice and Diversity: Call for
Papers
The Summit Organizing Committee of the University of Northern Colorado (UNC)
is currently accepting paper and panel discussion proposals for their
upcoming conference, the 6th Annual Summit on Social Justice and Diversity,
to be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2009. The call for proposals includes any
topics related to the following themes:
- Social Justice struggles in the US, in Colorado, or at the University of
Northern Colorado
- Issues in immigration
- Somalis in Greeley - Crisis in immigration
- The legacy of the color line at the beginning of the 21st century
- Racial or gender inequality, disability, transgender, and ESL issues in
education
- Community activism and organizing strategies, tactics, examples, or issues
- Inequities in the American criminal justice system
- Current issues related to alternative lifestyles
- Substandard treatment in health care
- Media representation of race, gender, disability, and sexuality
- Inequities in leadership roles
- Violence as an indicator of limited tolerance of difference
Please include a 150 word abstract, cover page with the names of the
presenters, title of the paper, contact information, and any special
requests (i.e., presentation time, technology) with your proposal
submission. The deadline for proposals is Monday, March 2nd, 2009.
