Join the Northwest Regional Educational Laboratory for a special forum
designed to help school and district leaders develop evidence-based
strategies to prevent students from dropping out.

--Dropout Prevention: A Research Forum for Northwest Region Leaders--

Wednesday, September 23, 2009, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., Portland, Oregon

Dr. Russell Rumberger, coauthor of the Institute of Education Sciences’
practice guide, Dropout Prevention, will present recommendations to
prevent student dropouts and explore specific ways to focus dropout
prevention efforts in schools and districts. Participants at this
workshop will learn:

- Strategies to identify student-level and schoolwide dropout problems

- Targeted interventions for middle and high school students at risk
of dropping out

- Schoolwide reforms designed to enhance engagement for all students

- How to develop a dropout prevention plan

The keynote presentation will be followed by a panel discussion on
specific ways participants can use the research to refine and expand
current dropout prevention efforts.

This forum is designed especially for leaders of middle and high schools
in the northwest, however, all principals, superintendents, school board
members, and other dropout prevention staff are encouraged to attend.

Location: World Trade Center, 121 SW Salmon Street, Portland, Oregon

There is no charge to attend and lunch will be provided to those
registered by September 14, 2009.
