Call for Research Paper Presentations

The Research and Evaluation SIG

Friday, February 5 from 8:30am-3:00pm at NABE 2010

The Research and Evaluation Special Interest Group (SIG) at NABE
invites proposals to share original research about bilingual education
and bilingualism.

RESEARCH PAPERS (45 MINUTES):

Definition: A description and /or Discussion of research (all forms of
qualitative and quantitative research) relating to bilingual education
and the development of bilingualism.
 Purpose:To share empirical research or well-documented
theoretical/practical perspectives. Also acceptable are critical
reviews of literature,policy studies, well-documented historical
studies, critiques, etc. Proposal Preparation Guidelines-Submit One
Typed Document with each of the following three components (Word or
.doc format).
Coversheet: Name, Title, Institution, and Contact information for each
presenter, with key contact person noted.

ABSTRACT:

Submit a 600-word abstract of the presentation for review by readers.
All abstracts should include the title, research methodology, research
questions, theoretical framework, key concepts in review of
literature, findings and significance, and other pertinent
information.

DESCRIPTION – 50-WORD DESCRIPTION FOR PUBLICATION IN THE PROGRAM:

(Please use present tense). All Proposals Must Be Submitted No Later
Than OCTOBER 1, 2009. Notification of acceptance or rejection will be
sent by November 10, 2009. Submit all proposals electronically to both
of the following email addresses: Dr. Maria Mercado (mariamm at nmsu.edu
) and Dr. Shannon Reierson (sreiers at unm.edu ).

Please Note: AUDIO-VISUAL EQUIPMENT ORDER:  All rooms will be equipped
with an overhead projector and screen and one corded microphone at no
cost. If you need to use a computer as part of your presentation, you
just bring one or personally make arrangements to rent one. Presenters
will be responsible for the costs and arrangements for any other
equipment needed for their session(s).
