Where are all of the students of color in gifted education?

May/June 2009

The field of gifted education in the U.S., much like special education, is
grounded in beliefs that some students demonstrate a need for specialized
education, that historically and currently, has not been adequately provided
to students of color.

Read the Equity Alliance at ASU's recent publication in
Principal<http://www.naesp.org/resources/2/Principal/2009/M-J_p16.pdf>magazine
about this equity matter, and one district's work toward addressing
the underrepresentation of culturally and linguistically diverse students in
gifted education.
