Dear friends and colleagues,
For the past two years I have had the pleasure of working at Manual Arts High School in Los Angeles piloting a comprehensive school turnaround strategy. The school operates within LAUSD’s iDesign division which provides us with considerable autonomy over budgets, operations, instruction, and staffing. Having set the stage for change with added resources, a strong support structure, and a school community that is pulling together toward a common vision, we now have the opportunity to hire a new principal – a move that promises to have a significant impact on our turnaround efforts. Because we are an iDesign school we are not obligated to hire from within the district and although the district may have qualified candidates, we hope our national search will generate a large pool of excellent prospects who bring new perspectives on leadership and change.
I would like to ask that you forward this email to anyone who might be interested (or might know someone who is interested) in becoming a leader of a prominent, south Los Angeles high school this is undergoing a radical transformation. The link below will take you to the job announcement and a short video about the unique opportunity this position offers. Note that the applications are due soon -- by May 1.
Thanks for your assistance. Stay tuned for updates as the project unfolds.
