Description of the "Village"
Multicultural Village Inc. is a small nonprofit organization based in
Natick Massachusetts, which works locally and globally to create a
culture of peace among groups in conflict through meaningful contact.
Multicultural Village is a simulated Village which is an intense
teaching, learning and practice site for peace building and conflict
resolution. The Village is a created community of youth and adults or
adults only from extremely diverse cultural, geographic, ethnic and
social groups who have the opportunity to engage in PEACE BUILDING by
having meaningful contact.

Villager Elders (Facilitators), Interns and Volunteers for Summer 2009
We need Workshop Facilitators/Village Elders and Interns for the
Youth Empowerment Village and Multicultural Village -Jamaica Village
Programs. Applications will be available until the end of May.
Volunteers are also needed on an ongoing basis to assist with
operations. Limited Unpaid internships are also available. See http://

Village Elder Qualifications
Holds a graduate degree in relevant field or has 5 or more years work
experience with diverse youth
Demonstrated knowledge of Peace Studies and Conflict Analysis and
Resolution theory and practice
Holds a passport, can acquire Visa(if needed) and has international
travel experience
A demonstrated commitment to working for the advancement of peace
building and conflict resolution
The ability to live in the moment and have a sense of humor!
Fluent or has working knowledge of a foreign language a plus
Available for 3-week period or entire duration of Village
Able to plan, deliver and evaluate interactive peace studies and
conflict resolution workshops
Adapts easily to new culture
Duties: Village Elders will be the primary medium of support,
teaching and mentorship for the Villagers. Their main duties will be
to plan, deliver, evaluate the workshops and mentor Villagers and
Interns. An honorarium is offered and all meals and accommodation is
included.
Intern Qualification:
Upper level undergraduate or holding a Bs. in a Social Science or
related discipline
Proficient in Microsoft Office or Apple I Life
Fluent or working knowledge of foreign language preferable
Ability to adapt to different cultures easily
A demonstrated commitment to Peace Building and Conflict Resolution
Available for entire period of Village
Holds passport ( has traveled internationally preferable )
Duties: Interns will be expected to act as supplementary mentors to
the Villagers and support for the Village Elders. Each intern will be
assigned to a Village Elder so that the intern will in turn receive
mentorship. In their support capacity they will be required to assist
Village Elders with the delivery and evaluation of their program.
This may include delivering workshops, coordination entertainment,
and evening activities, assisting with programming or assisting with
the back end duties such as the documentary or the newsletter. Other
administrative duties may be also included after discussion.
Internships are unpaid but a very small stipend may be offered
contingent on funding.
