New REACH Event, following our annual Seattle Workshops:
We Are the Change We've Been Waiting For: Multicultural Education
That Works! Monday and Tuesday, June 29-30, 2009, in Seattle. This
special conference is designed for educators looking for a systemic
approach to making cultural competence a reality in their schools and
across the district. Join teachers and administrators from different
sized school districts to learn what they've done with REACH. At this
conference, practitioners will share their implementation stories
while also providing on-site coaching. You'll leave will a plan of
your own! $200 per person, including continental breakfast and

1. REACH Institute for Building Cultural Competency
Learn to implement the REACH programs in the classroom. This 2-day
institute is designed to develop and enhance your cultural competency
skills by exploring the basic principles and concepts of multicultural/
global awareness through a combination of hands-on activities and
lectures. Receive nationally validated REACH program materials,
including classroom-tested curriculum, for your particular grade
emphasis. Special presentations provide you with multicultural
perspectives to help you understand the impact of prejudice and
oppression, along with effective skills for developing cross-cultural
strategies for valuing diversity.
Dates: Monday and Tuesday, June 22-23, 2009
Schedule: 8:00 - 8:30 am each day - Continental Breakfast
Program: 8:30 am - 4:00 pm each day
Cost: $400 per participant for early registration; $450 if registering
less than 1 month prior to workshop
(includes all materials plus continental breakfast and lunch each day)

2. REACH Training of Trainers:
This training session is designed for those educators and diversity
practitioners who want to disseminate REACH programs or deepen their
understanding of REACH concepts. Learn techniques for presenting
REACH strategies and materials to others. Participants must have
already attended a REACH 2-day Institute for Building Cultural
Competency. The Training of Trainers is the first step toward
certification as a REACH trainer. Other steps include curriculum
implementation, co-training, and lead training. Educators from
throughout the nation are attracted to this lively session. The
training format encourages team building and informal networking, and
provides opportunities to practice in groups.
Dates: Wednesday through Saturday, June 24-27, 2009
Cost: $600 per participant for early registration; $650 if registering
less than 1 month prior to workshop
(includes all materials plus continental breakfast and lunch each day)
(Same schedule and location as Institute above)
The REACH Center encourages organizations to send a team that
represents a balance of diversity to the Institute and/or Training of
Trainers session. The development of a local team can save money and
provide on-going support to the organizations adopting REACH.
Per person registration fee includes training materials, continental
breakfast and lunch each day.
