Job Description
This state grant funded position is focused on minority educator recruitment
within the state of Vermont and is responsible for the administration and
sustainability of the Vermont Teacher Diversity Scholarship (VTDSP) Project.
The goal of this position is to educate Vermont communities regarding the
importance of a diverse faculty and staff, assist in recruiting minority
candidates, assist with navigating licensing requirements for
non-traditional and external candidates, support districts wishing to visit
their own policies regarding educator recruitment and support diverse
teachers and administrators to access careers in Vermont¹s K 12 schools.
This position is administered by the Burlington School District (BSD) where
the office for this individual is located.

Requirements
Educate Vermont communities regarding the importance of a diverse faculty
and staff
Actively Recruit minority candidates
Implement scholarship program
Promote VTDSP's purpose of recruiting and preparing high-quality, diverse
teachers for Vermont's K - 12 schools.
Develop and maintain web site and other public presence regarding VTDSP
Work collaboratively with the VTDSP Steering Committee to continually
assess and improve the VTDSP program.
Fundraising
Coordinate statewide and regional fundraising efforts to build capacity of
VTDSP Program and to maintain the diversity coordination effort
Conduct fundraising and public relations activity for building the
scholarship (loan cancellation) fund located at VSAC on both a statewide and
regional basis
Advocate for state funding through the Vermont Legislature
Solicit financial support from individuals, foundations and businesses
Budget and Policy
Develop and monitor VTDSP budget. Comply with any requirements set forth
by funders, and provide an annual evaluation of the VTDSP program to any
funders and to the Steering Committee
Collaborate at local, state, and national level around policy issues
regarding minority recruitment and licensing issues.
Four to six years of experience in project management, preferably in
education or human services, or a combination of education and experience
from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
Strong and demonstrated commitment to diversity
Strong communication, project management and problem solving skills
including web based communication
Fundraising skills
General budget management
Ability to deal effectively with diverse constituents and communities.
Ability to organize communities around common purpose.
Strong and demonstrated planning, organizational and evaluation skills
Valid Vermont drivers license.
# At least 4 years of relevant experience preferred
# Masters degree preferred
