Dear NAME members,
In 2005, Greenwood Press published "Multicultural Films: A Reference Guide" which Dr. J. Q. Adams and I co-authored. Because the press identified "multicultural" with "race/ethnicity" the focus of the book is on "What Movies Tell Us about Race/Ethnicity in the United States." It includes about reviews of about 170 films, both mainstream and independent, that treat race/ethnicity in one way or another. The films are listed under the following headings: African American. Arab American and Middle Eastern American, Asian American, European American, Latino/a American, Native American, and Intercultural Films, with a brief introduction to each section. The text includes a list of "Films by Theme" as well as a selected bibliography.

Dear Listmembers,

I noticed over the last few postings that there are several of you who
use Crash or other controversial movies in your classes, which strikes
me as something very useful and provocative. Has anyone considered
putting together a book/anthology that would employ movies such as Crash
as teaching tools, together with assignments and reading/discussion
topics? I would be very interested to see such a project. Such a volume
could be applied in literature, media, communication, sociology,
political science, women's studies, education, and other departments.

Thank you,
