*JOB POSTING: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR*
The Executive Director is the senior staff person of the Massachusetts
Commission on the Status of Women. (MCSW) The
Executive Director directs, plans, and coordinates the implementation of
programs and activities developed by the MCSW
Commissioners and supervises all staff and interns. The Executive Director
works with the full Commission to develop priorities
and then implements, manages, and evaluates the activities. The Executive
Director reports directly to the Chair of the
Commission.
*Responsibilities:*
1- Directs implementation of Commission developed programs and policies.
2- Develops goals and objectives, prepares and manages budgets, timetables,
and other program components.
3- Trains, reviews and evaluates the work of a small staff, interns and
volunteers.
4- Negotiates, secures and maintains an on-going for academic credit
Internship Program contracting with area colleges
and universities.
5- Develops research projects that develop and maintain public advocacy for
women's issues.
6- Researches, writes and secures grant proposals and funding to sustain the
organization's work. Support the
development of new services, activities, and products.
7- Works with the commissioners to develop legislative recommendations and
new legislation; is expected to lobby on
behalf of the Commission.
8- Works with commissioners to conduct regional outreach activities. Advises
women across the state toward establishing
regional commissions on the status of women.
9- Plans Commission publications including newsletters, special bulletins,
booklets, brochures, exhibits, informational and
related materials to further the Commission's mandate and goals.
10- Oversees and expands as warranted the MCSW website content and
communications which includes the Mass.
Women's Resource and Referral Network (MWRRN).
11- Networks and develops collaborations with other groups concerned with
women's issues.
12- Develops, manages and implements overall public relations and media
plan.
13- Facilitates on-going communication with MCSW's Appointing Authorities
and with all commissioners to keep them
advised on MCSW activities, goals and accomplishments.
14- Prepares Annual Report on outreach meetings for submission to Appointing
Authorities.
15- Builds positive working relationships with 19 Commissioners, as
individuals and as a group. Brings all Commissioners
together in cooperative efforts to advance the MCSW's mission.
*Preferred Qualifications:*
1- Professional experience working with women's issues and public policy.
2- Demonstrated analytical, writing, grant writing, fundraising, and public
speaking abilities and experience.
3- Thorough knowledge of public relations principles and practices; with
media experience.
4- Minimum 5 years senior management experience with substantial background
in administration of a program or an
agency.
5- Proven effectiveness in managing programs, budgets, contracts, staff, and
volunteers.
6- Considerable experience with the legislative process and state
government.
7- Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to collaborate with
diverse groups and individuals.
*Salary and Benefits: *Salary Range $60-$70,000 / Commensurate with
Experience
