(NAME-MCE) Fulbright Uruguay Hosting Opportunity

The Fulbright Teacher Exchange Program is currently seeking U.S.
educators to host educators (teachers and administrators) from Uruguay
for two-three weeks in February 2009. The focus of this exchange is to
help Uruguayan teachers and administrators strengthen their local
school systems through observation of classes and administration,
school relations with the community, curriculum development, active
learning, classroom management, technology in the classroom, parental
involvement, volunteerism and civic responsibility.

Teacher hosting: Host should be from a language immersion school
and/or school with strong bilingual/ESL program to host a teacher from
Uruguay.

Administrator hosting: Host should be a principal or other
administrator working in the field of bilingual, immersion, or ESL
program to host Uruguayan principal.

Most participants coming to the U.S. from Uruguay will be at the
elementary level, but a smaller number of participants will be from
middle or high schools this year. Elementary, middle, and high
schools, as well as school districts, are encouraged to apply.
Placements of Uruguayan educators at schools and school districts will
most likely be in pairs, so applicant schools and school districts
should describe in their application how they would accommodate up to
two Uruguayan educators.

The Uruguayan educators are scheduled to arrive in the United States
on February 2 and have an orientation in Washington, DC until February
6. They are currently scheduled travel to host sites on Saturday,
February 7, and return to Uruguay on February 20.
