Position: Counselor Education
Rank: Assistant Professor, Tenure Track
Qualifications:
Required: Doctorate from an accredited university (ABD applicant will be considered if completed by August 19, 2008) in Counselor Education, Counseling Psychology or related; evidence of teaching experience in counseling and student services, potential in research and curriculum development, and evidence of successful work with ethnically and culturally diverse populations and communities. Applicant should have awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population which may have been gained through cross-cultural study, training, teaching, and other comparable experiences.
Preferred: The candidate must demonstrate: the ability to address the needs of ethnically and culturally diverse schools and students; experience in any of the areas of counseling foundations, organization change and consultation, school counseling, human growth and development, student service management, college outreach and student services; and an interest in developing grants, initiating research, and presenting at conferences within the areas of counseling and student services.
Responsibilities: The candidate will teach graduate courses in Counselor Education; supervise students in practicum and fieldwork assignments, advise graduate students, participate in committee services; initiate research and the development of grants and other scholarly activities. Candidates must address the needs of a student population of great diversity – in age, cultural background, ethnicity, primary language and academic preparation – through course materials, teaching strategies, research, and advisement.
Salary Range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
Starting Date: The position will be available August 20, 2009
Eligibility: Employment is contingent upon proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
