POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
The College of Education at GRAND VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY is seeking a
full-time, tenure-track faculty member in Educational Foundations, at
the Assistant Professor level. Please review the qualifications,

Grand Valley State University, established in 1960, is a four-year
public university. It attracts more than 23,000 students with its high
quality programs and state-of-the-art facilities. Grand Valley provides
a fully accredited undergraduate and graduate liberal education and has
campuses in Allendale, Grand Rapids, and Holland and centers in Muskegon
and Traverse City. Grand Valley is the comprehensive regional university
for the state's second largest metropolitan area and offers 69
undergraduate and 26 graduate degree programs. The university is

QUALIFICATIONS:
● Preferred applicants will have a Doctorate in Educational
Foundations, or a related field, ABD candidates considered
● Background in social, historical, or philosophical foundations
of education
● Appropriate licensure/certification or ability to be certified
in Michigan
● Demonstrated competence in or potential for university teaching,
preferably having developed innovative instructional strategies for
diverse student populations
● Willingness and ability to travel to locations within GVSU
service area for instruction and student supervision
● Effective communication and interpersonal skills
● Willingness to teach using multimedia modes of instruction,
including online and distance learning technologies as well as deliver
courses on weekends or other non-traditional times
● Previous experience in, or capacity to contribute to, the
development of a Masters of Education program in educational
foundations
RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Teach graduate or undergraduate courses in social, historical,
or philosophical foundations of education
● Prepare pre-service and graduate teachers to apply foundational
perspectives to current educational issues and meet the needs of diverse
student populations
● Work with traditional and non-traditional student populations
● Student advising
● Pursue scholarly activities such as research, publication,
writing, and professional presentations
● Provide service to the unit, university, profession, and
community
