Loyola University Chicago invites applications to the following
opening:
 

Sociology of Education/Educational Policy Studies:  The School of
Education, Loyola University Chicago announces an Assistant Professor,
tenure-track position with primary teaching, research and service
responsibilities in Sociology of Education.  The person selected will
join faculty in the area of Cultural and Educational Policy Studies who
teach undergraduate and graduate courses in NCATE accredited programs
leading to the B.S.Ed, M.A., M.Ed., and Ph.D all of which are shaped
around the School’s conceptual framework of professionalism in service
of social justice. 
 
The area of Cultural and Educational Policy Studies offers specialties
in philosophy, sociology, and history of education and in
comparative-international education.  The selected individual will teach
graduate courses in sociology of education, sociological perspectives on
urban education, educational policy analysis, and graduate seminars in
his or her areas of research interest and undergraduate courses in
American Education. The selected individual will supervise master’s
theses and doctoral dissertations, conduct an active research and
publication program, and demonstrate commitment to serving a diverse
student body and profession.  
 
Required qualification:  earned doctorate in education (with an
emphasis on the sociology of education) or in sociology (with an
emphasis on education).  Desirable qualifications:  previous teaching
experience, evidence of scholarly work other than the dissertation,
success in securing research funds and/or participation in funded
projects.
