Loyola University Chicago invites applications for the following
opening:

Early Childhood Special Education:  - The School of Education, Loyola
University Chicago, announces a tenure-track position at the assistant
professor rank with primary teaching, research and service
responsibilities with an emphasis on Early Childhood Special Education
in urban schools. Loyola's NCATE accredited B.S.Ed., M.Ed, and Ed.D, and
Ph.D. programs prepare school leaders in the Chicago metropolitan area,
one of the nation’s liveliest educational scenes. The selected
individual will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in early
childhood special education; supervise students' field supervision;
engage in curriculum development; supervise dissertations; conduct an
active research and publication program in early childhood education;
and demonstrate commitment to serving a diverse student body and
profession.  
 
Required qualifications include: earned doctorate in Early Childhood
Education with a focus on special education from an accredited
institution; familiarity with culturally relevant pedagogy; and
successful work experience with young children at the P-3 level. 
Desirable qualifications include: successful university level teaching
experience; experience with university-public school urban partnerships;
ability to secure external funding; scholarly publications; and a
commitment to the School’s conceptual framework, preparing professionals
in service of social justice.  
 
Loyola University Chicago is a Jesuit Catholic, research extensive
university offering 36 doctoral, 77 masters, 30 dual degree, 30
certificate programs, and 69 undergraduate majors across ten schools and
colleges.  The School of Education offers degrees at the baccalaureate,

Starting date is August 2009 with initial review of applications
