Grants Promote Cultural Conservation Worldwide
Genographic Legacy Fund
The Genographic Legacy Fund, administered by the National Geographic
Foundation, supports indigenous or traditional communities worldwide. The
Fund provides grants of up to US$25,000 for the preservation and
revitalization of tangible or intangible indigenous or traditional culture.
Examples of funded projects include documenting a traditional language or
oral history, traditional language training or curriculum development, and
preserving significant sites and artifacts. Projects must show strong local
community involvement in their planning, governance, and implementation and
must deliver positive, tangible, and sustainable benefits.
The next application deadline is December 15, 2008.
