Making Excellence Inclusive Series

More Reasons for Hope: Diversity Matters in Higher Education

Description:
Honoring the late Edgar Beckham and his profound influence on higher education, More Reasons for Hope<http://campaign.aacu.org:81/CT00014303MTAA.HTML> examines the trends in diversity education since an earlier AAC&U monograph published a decade ago called Reasons for Hope. The monograph features a major address, "Diversity at the Crossroads," by Edgar Beckham which identifies intellectual, structural, and political challenges to that need to be addressed in the next generation of diversity work. Funded by the Ford Foundation and part of our Making Excellence Inclusive series, More Reasons for Hope takes stock of higher education's progress over the last years in deploying diversity to achieve institutional and education excellence. It features 32 different institutional examples of contemporary diversity work on college campuses.
