Not too long ago this list received a string of mailings regarding Bill
Ayres and I think the attached letter adds an important perspective to
that conversation.  It comes from Mr. Ayers himself and I think argues
well for the FACT that this man is indeed a good American, a patriotic
American in the best way, a man willing to go to the wall at many points
in his life to fight against corruption of the American credo written
big in the foundational documents of the nation, and to go to the wall
again and again to provide people the kind of education that orients
them to the true meaning of citizenship in this nation.
