MSU program recognizes diversity efforts

Michigan State University recognized students, faculty and staff for their  
efforts in promoting diversity at the annual Excellence in Diversity 
Recognition  and Awards program today. 
Among the award recipients were George Cornell, who established and now heads 
 the Native American Institute at MSU; Kaustav Mukerjee, a doctoral student 
in  English in the College of Arts and Letters, who is president of the MSU  
International Students Association; and the university's African Atlantic  
Research Team, a mentoring collective and research group that works to increase  
the number of American Indians, Chicanos and Latinos, African-Americans and  
Asian-Americans who have successful careers in academia.
