Texas State University-San Marcos invites applications and nominations
for the position of
Chief Diversity Officer and Director of Equity and Access, a
senior-level leader responsible for:
* providing leadership on issues of diversity, and equity and access;
* overseeing and managing the Office of Equity and Access;
* overseeing the diversity, and equity and access programs and hiring
practices of the university;
* providing and coordinating professional development training and
executive recruitment activities, including on-campus EEO and
diversity training for faculty and staff;
* monitoring and reviewing job recruitment, application and hiring
decisions of managers in order to recommend approval or disapproval;
* reviewing and investigating allegations of harassment and
discrimination, and recommending solutions to parties involved;
* assisting search and selection processes for faculty and staff,
including executive staff;
* providing counsel to senior university administrative management on
diversity, and equity and access issues, including ADA guidelines;
* strategic planning for diversity, and equity and access, including
monitoring of progress toward goals;
* completing university, state and federal reports and monitoring
university policies on diversity, and equity and access;
* chairing the Equity and Access Investigating Committee;
* and chairing the Equity and Access Committee.
Texas State University-San Marcos is a doctoral granting university
located in the burgeoning Austin-San Antonio corridor, the largest
campus in the Texas State University System, and one of the 75 largest
universities in the nation. Texas State's 28,132 students choose from
111 undergraduate, 88 masters, and 7 doctoral programs offered by
seven colleges (Applied Arts, McCoy College of Business
Administration, Education, Fine Arts and Communication, Health
Professions, Liberal Arts, and Science), the University College and

The successful candidate must have:
* Earned Master's or J.D. degree at the time of application
* Demonstrated leadership on issues of diversity, and equity and access
* At least 5 years of administrative experience in higher education or
other state or federal agencies
* Experience in investigating discrimination and harassment allegations
* Experience in conflict resolution, employee training programs, and
in developing and implementing equal employment opportunity
initiatives
* Experience in reviewing recruitment, application and hiring
decisions of managers in order to recommend approval or disapproval
Additional preferred qualifications include:
* Earned doctoral degree
* Current or prior faculty appointment at a master's or doctoral
granting institution
* Background in EEO and general employment law
* Demonstrated effective communication and computer skills
