Senior Advisor to the President for Diversity Initiatives

ST. NORBERT COLLEGE
De Pere, Wisconsin

St. Norbert College, a Catholic liberal arts College in northeastern 
Wisconsin with 2,200 students, seeks a Senior Advisor to the President 
for Diversity Initiatives.  The Norbertine order founded and supports 
the College in De Pere, Wisconsin, a small, vibrant town immediately 
adjacent to metropolitan Green Bay and the entrance to Door County.  The 
College is noted for its intense commitment to educating the whole 
person; its radical hospitality; preparing each person for leadership 
and service of the common good; supporting its deep sense of community; 
and maintaining the cohesive design and beauty of its campus. The 
College has been cited by the Templeton Fund for building character in 
its students and the American Council of Education for exemplary 
international programs.

The Senior Advisor to the President for Diversity Initiatives is charged 
with enhancing, promoting, and advancing excellence through equity, 
diversity and inclusion at the college. This senior administrative 
officer is responsible for providing vision and advice to the campus 
planning process to ensure that SNC's commitment to diversity is 
adequately and appropriately integrated into the College's mission, 
campus-wide strategic goals, and campus policies and procedures.

This full-time position will report directly to the President of the 
College. The Senior Advisor collaborates with the cabinet, campus 
administrators, and faculty on multicultural institutional initiatives 
that advance the mission of the college with regard to matters 
pertaining to equity and the sacred dignity of all persons.

The incumbent will actively collaborate with other campus administrators 
and faculty. The Advisor is responsible for developing, implementing, 
and assessing institutional goals for diversity and equity, consulting 
with campus constituencies, and coordinating a comprehensive approach to 
diversity. This position will support faculty and staff in creating 
innovative programs that are designed to foster a climate of advocacy 
for diversity on campus. The position will support the recruitment, 
retention, and success for all members of the college.

Essential Duties:
1.	Advise the President on all diversity matters.
2.	Lead and coordinate the timely implementation of the Report and 
Recommendations of the President’s Task Force on Diversity and Best 
Practices at St. Norbert College.
3.	Chair the St. Norbert College Diversity Advisory Council.
4.	Collaborate with SPRAAC on incorporating these recommendations into 
the St. Norbert College Strategic Plan.
5.	Collaborate with the President’s Cabinet in prioritizing 
institutional diversity goals.
6.	Collaborate with all areas on diversity recruitment and retention 
activities to increase students, faculty, and staff of color in accord 
with the Diversity Recommendations.
7.	Assist the President and Board of Trustees in identifying potential 
diverse candidates for membership on the Board of Trustees.
8.	Work closely with the Enrollment Management and Communications 
Division and the Student Life Division in developing inclusive and best 
practices admission and retention processes.
9.	Actively collaborate with faculty members interested in transforming 
their curriculum using a cultural competence model.
10.	Work as appropriate with other campus offices, including the 
Director for Faculty Development, the Director of Cultural Diversity, 
the Director of Human Resources and the President’s Diversity Advisory 
Council.
11.	Work with the metropolitan community at large on matters of diversity.
12.	Initiate, develop, nurture and sustain relationships with various 
community groups.
13.	Work with various campus constituencies in promoting a safe campus 
climate that is supportive and welcoming, and promotes collaboration 
across students, faculty, staff and administration in earnest pursuit of 
permeating and integrating the concepts and values of diversity and 
inclusion throughout all levels.
14.	Work collaboratively with appropriate individuals and groups to 
establish and maintain relevant systems of accountability with respect 
to diversity.
15.	Assist Human Resources in the development and implementation of 
diversity training.
16.	Ensure SNC goodwill compliance with federal, state and campus 
regulations and requirements related to equity and diversity.
17.	Lead and promote the development of institutional goals that support 
a culture of diverse perspectives, pluralism and mutual respect for 
trustees, students, staff and faculty.
18.	Collaborate closely with the Associate Dean for Institutional 
Effectiveness on assessing institutional diversity initiatives.
19.	Work closely with the Sponsored Programs Office to prepare and 
submit grant proposals to fund diversity initiatives.
20.	Develop a plan for a Diversity Resource Center.

Education and Experience:
•	A terminal degree, or its equivalent, is required with a minimum of 
three years of demonstrated leadership experience addressing diversity 
initiatives within a higher education setting.  Experience in a church 
related institution preferred.
•	Must possess a broad understanding and commitment to equity issues and 
the development of initiatives to foster a more diverse and inclusive 
academic community.
•	Must demonstrate knowledge of policies and procedures regarding 
diversity initiatives in higher education settings.
•	Must demonstrate understanding and commitment to the values of a more 
inclusive and diverse community of scholars.
•	Must possess a collaborative leadership style to facilitating change 
and show evidence of strong relationship-building abilities.
•	Must possess the ability to work with faculty on relevant curricular 
issues
•	A demonstrated record of achievement, leadership, and managerial 
skills; evidence of strong organizational ability and excellent writing 
and speaking skills.
•	Strong administrative and supervisory skills
•	Evidence of ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff 
and administrators.
