Description:
Barnard College-Office of the Provost invites application and nominations
for the Associate Provost and Dean for Faculty Diversity and Support who
will assume leadership responsibility for programs that facilitate the
development of the Barnard faculty. Such activities include working with
chairs and program directors to recruit and retain a diverse faculty,
organizing new faculty orientation and junior faculty support, chairing the
Faculty Grants Committee, and, in conjunction with the Provost and the
Director of Institutional Support, initiating and supervising projects that
support faculty development and curricular innovation. The Associate Provost
also assumes leadership responsibility for institutional organization of
accreditation reports, and, working with the Provost, Assistant Provost and
the Institutional Research Analyst, for institutional assessment planning.
Additional Qualifications:
Qualifications include: Ph.D. in a liberal arts discipline; significant
experience as a tenured faculty member in leadership roles, e.g. department
or program chair, appointed and elected college-wide committees, or ten or
more years of senior-level academic management experience; knowledge about
successful programs to recruit and retain a diverse faculty (experience in
leading such programs preferred); demonstrated capabilities to represent the
Provost effectively in senior management situations; excellent communication
skills, oral and written; strong computer skills for data management and
analysis; ability to multitask, absorb detail while maintaining vision and
establishing priorities; utmost discretion in dealing with confidential
information; ability to be flexible and to work both independently and
cooperatively; expertise in programmatic or institutional assessment
preferred.
