The Texas High School Project (THSP) is a public-private initiative
committed to increasing graduation rates and college enrollment rates in
every Texas community. The resources dedicated to the THSP support new and
re-designed high schools, educator training and development, and specific
programs designed to help students get ready for college. The approach used
by the THSP creates learning environments where students build relationships
with educators, are challenged with rigorous lessons, and are excited by
subjects made relevant to their lives.

The Associate Program Officer, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math
(STEM) Initiatives is responsible for the research and support of STEM
initiatives, including the Network, Centers, Academies, and Leadership
programs in partnership with targeted charters, independent school
districts, and institutions of higher learning across Texas.

Position priorities: Support school design and implementation of innovative
STEM Academies as small autonomous schools or school-within-school models;
Assist in the delivery and documentation of technical assistance provided to
T-STEM grantees; Develop templates and tools that will support the
development of planning and implementation for future schools; Support all
phases of the Request for Applications process that enables the funding of
T-STEM grantees.

Primary responsibilities: Assist in the monitoring, documentation, and
reporting of the growth and performance of T-STEM Academies and other
Grantees; Support T-STEM Academy grantees in a continuous improvement
process; Develop tools and protocols that support the scheduling, support
and management of T-STEM professional development opportunities.

Ideal experience and education:

Education: Master's degree required, with relevant graduate education
preferred.

Experience: At least three years of project management, with significant
team and/or client management responsibility. Experience teaching
disadvantaged students, mathematics or science teaching experience is highly
desirable. Experience with curriculum development and school leadership is
desirable.

Knowledge of secondary education and its infrastructure and regulations in
Texas is highly desirable.

Understanding of best practice principles of youth development and
professional development desirable.

Excellent interpersonal skills necessary.

Spanish language skills and knowledge of, or experience in, the Rio Grande
Valley of Texas and urban, underserved areas is preferred.
