seeking a Chief Program Officer to lead its programmatic efforts across
the nation. The Chief Program Officer, a new position, will shape and
direct the programmatic aspects of our next five-year plan for the
organization, with the goal of producing even more college graduates and

The Chief Program Officer will work closely with the President and an

About the "I Have A Dream" Foundation
The "I Have A Dream" Foundation is working to ensure that all children
in this nation will have the opportunity to pursue higher education and
to fully capitalize on their talents, aspirations, and leadership to
have fulfilling careers and create a better world. We empower children
in low-income communities to achieve higher education by providing them
with guaranteed tuition support and equipping them with the skills,
knowledge, and habits they need to gain entry to higher education and
succeed in college and beyond.
Our approach is unique in that we sponsor an entire grade level of
50-150 students in public elementary schools or public housing
developments, and we work with these "Dreamers" from an early age
(K-grade 2) all the way to college. Upon high school graduation, each
Dreamer receives guaranteed tuition assistance for higher education.
While only 50% of students in low-income communities typically finish
high school and only one out of seven graduate from college, many of our
Dreamers have gone on to become teachers, social workers, secretaries,
scholar-athletes, lawyers, and more. By helping our Dreamers gain access
to college, we are putting our Dreamers on a different academic and life
trajectory, while having a broader impact on the students' families and
the generations that follow.
We got our start in 1981, when founder Eugene Lang made the
extraordinary promise of a college education to the sixth-grade students
of P.S. 121 in East Harlem, sparking a national movement that stretches
from coast to coast. Currently more than 4,000 Dreamers are on the
pathway to college in 16 states, Washington, D.C., and New Zealand,
following some 10,000 Dreamers who came before them.
We are in the process of developing an ambitious new plan for the "I
Have a Dream" Foundation, to significantly increase our impact on
students and communities across the nation, with the goal of at least
doubling the number of Dreamers on the pathway to college at any given time.
