Cecelia Carpenter, enrolled Nisqually elder and historian has published a
new book on the Nisqually tribe. The illustrated volume tells the story of
the Nisqually, the original stewards of land in present day Pierce County
and Thurston County, Washington State.

Carpenter collaborated with museum curator Maria Pascualy to select and
identify over 200 photographic images illustrating Nisqually life from the
late 1800s to today.  Pascualy works at the Washington State History Museum
in Tacoma, WA.  

The book, entitled NISQUALLY INDIAN TRIBE, is part of the IMAGES OF AMERICA
series from Arcadia Press.
