Join the Association of Raza Educators this Wednesday as we Defend a
socially just and culturally relevant education! English teacher K. Salazar
has been terminated from Jordan High for teaching about Malcolm X!!!  A.R.E.
will not stand for this injustice! If Salazar goes then so will other

Press Conference and Rally: 

Teachers publicly resign from Jordan High School in Watts/South LA

At this press conference, Students 4 Salazar, the Watts Student Union,  The
Association of Raza Educators, and Parents of Jordan High School will DEMAND
that the Los Angeles Unified School District remove Principal Stephen
Strachan from Jordan High School. Strachan has consistently used
strong-armed tactics to intimidate, humiliate, and control teachers,
students and parents. Over 15 teachers have requested transfers or will
resign effective June 30, 2008 because of issues related directly to
Principal Strachan and his repressive administration.

At this Press Conference Teachers will publicly resign and be available for
interviews

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008  3:30 P.M.

The central objective/demand will be: To publically DEMAND Principal
Strachan be removed from Jordan High School. Current Jordan High teachers
will publicly resign.  

1) To publicly demand teacher K. Salazar, who is being terminated from
Jordan for being to "Afro-Centric," be allowed to continue teaching at
Jordan High for 2008-09 school year.

2) To publicly demand that LAUSD not punish teachers who teach a culturally
relevant education. 

 Teachers, Students, and Parents will be available for Interviews in Spanish
and English
