Today, Oregon State University is a comprehensive public research
university and a member of the Oregon University System (OUS). With
programs and faculty located in every Oregon county, a branch campus in
Bend, a major marine science center in Newport, and a range of programs
and facilities in Portland, OSU views the state as its campus, working
in partnership with community colleges and other OUS institutions to
provide access to educational programs. Approximately 15,600
undergraduates and almost 3,400 graduate students are enrolled at OSU,
including about 2,600 U.S. students of color and more than 1,000
international students.
OSU is one of only two universities in the United State with Land Grant,
Sea Grant, Space Grant, and Sun Grant designations and, thus, has been
selected by the federal government to be a nexus of teaching and
research that benefits the country and the world. OSU is ranked 81st
among the top 200 research institutions. Faculty research, as measured
by expenditures, was $194 million for 2005-2006. Oregon State is the
only Oregon university to hold the Carnegie Foundation's prestigious
designation reserved for universities with "very high research
activity." At the same time, OSU has become even more instrumental to
the well being of Oregon itself, providing the accessible education and
practical research that Oregon residents and businesses need to thrive
in changing times.
The University has embarked on a capital campaign to raise support for
its goals, which align with the needs of Oregon, the region, and the
nation. At the close of fiscal year 2006, the OSU Foundation had an
endowment of $332 million and total assets of more than $500 million.

discrimination and the provision of equal opportunity in education and
employment, and actively promote cultural diversity, awareness, and
sensitivity throughout the campus community. We actively engage in

promoting and enhancing diversity, nurturing creativity, and building
community.
