Religion and Diversity Education Program Associate:

 


THE PROGRAM


 

Tanenbaum's K-12 education program helps educators establish classroom
communities that celebrate pluralism and respect.

 

The Seven Principles for Inclusive Education is a unique framework for
our multicultural and multi-religious curricula and training. Both the
training and curricula are K-12.  The curricula are literacy based,
standards referenced, and academically integrated, thus reinforcing
academic priorities.

 

Through cooperative activities and peer-learning, our program helps
children learn to value and respect themselves, each other, and their
shared environment.

 


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


 


The Religion & Diversity Education Program Associate will report to the
Assistant Program Director, Religion and Diversity Education and will be
primarily responsible for supporting the Program's management in rolling
out and implementing the program in diverse settings and in the design
of the program.  This may include evening and weekend hours as well as:


 


*          Assisting to design and implement educator training/staff
development trainings 


*          Observe and monitor program implementation in the classroom
and in after school settings 

*          On-going research for program curricula

*          On-going assessment and adaptation of program curricula 

*          Collaborate on outreach and presentations including to new
schools, educators, Tanenbaum's Board of Directors and other leadership.

*          Work in cooperation with development team to identify
potential program funders and prepare proposals.

*          Work with Department to identify new directions and
applications for Religion & Diversity Education program and other
Tanenbaum initiatives.

*          Responsible for drafting letters, memos, filing and other
support functions. 


 


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPECTATIONS


 

*          Commitment to the mission and goals of Tanenbaum. 

*          BA and classroom teaching experience in K-12 school settings;
MA and certification preferred.

*          Knowledge of current trends in education and education
philosophy.

*          Strong facilitation and/or presentation skills.

*          Strong interreligious and/or multicultural competence/skills.

*          Organized and adept at multi-tasking.

*          Takes initiative.

*          Strong written and oral communication skills.

*          Ability to work collaboratively and independently.

*          Team player.

*          Creative.

*          Ability to analyze data and present it.

*          Computer skills including PowerPoint, MS Word, internet
research.

*          Represent Tanenbaum and the Religion & Diversity program in a
professional manner at all times.

*          Sense of humor.

*          Experience in marketing is a plus!
