March 27-30 2008 Denver, Colorado

Hmong National Development, Inc. (HND) is excited to bring the 13th
Hmong National Conference to Denver, Colorado where it was once held
in 1998. The 13th Hmong National Conference, to take place at the
Marriot Denver City Center on March 27th-30th 2008, will bring
together professionals, scholars, community members, youth, and
leaders to increase capacity, promote active civic participation,
discuss community challenges, and to celebrate community successes.

The conference is expected to address a number of issues that affect
the Hmong community on a local, state, and national level and serves
as a forum for the Hmong community to discuss pressing issues such as
health care, education, and the preservation of culture. It gives
Hmong entrepreneurs, professionals, scholars, politicians, students,
educators, and community members the opportunity to dialogue, network,
and celebrate the accomplishments of the past year.

The Hmong National Conference is the annual flagship event of Hmong
National Development, Inc. (HND) located in Washington, DC. Each year,
the conference travels to different cities in the United States with
the following purposes: (1) to raise awareness of emerging issues
affecting Hmong; (2) to share programming ideas, strategies, research
and general information; (3) to provide networking opportunities; (4)
and to celebrate Hmong successes & recognize new Hmong leaders. This
past year, HND enjoyed the immensely successful partnership of the
Detroit, MI community where about 500 participants attended the
conference themed Hmong Footprints: Cultivating a Vibrant Hmong
Culture.

HND's 13th Hmong National Conference themed, Choices, Changes,
Consequences: Reflecting on our Past, Creating our Future, will focus
on the visible signs of progress we have made in three decades as well
as the challenges that lay ahead for our community. The 2008
conference will be held in Denver, Colorado March 27th-30th.
Participants will engage in meaningful discussions that will promote
understanding and respect for the diverse array of inter-generational,
gender, economic and intellectual perspectives that exist in the
community. Conference workshops will provide the creative and
comfortable environment necessary for discourse and growth in cultural
understanding. Within the safe and inclusive venue of the conference,
participants will learn leadership and civic skills that will help
them understand and bridge cultural gaps in a respectful manner while
communicating their concerns about the Hmong community.
