Summary: Provides overall leadership and management for the comprehensive Southwest Indiana College Access Network (SICAN), a not-for-profit organization to serve youth, adults and families in the Evansville, Indiana, area. Programs and services include a walk-in information and advising center, a wide variety of outreach activities to encourage postsecondary education participation, and the development of informational materials to assist students and parents with postsecondary planning and enrollment.Responsibilities: 1. Establishes and secures endorsement from the Advisory Body for annual program objectives, with appropriate metrics supportive of the SICAN mission and goals. 2. Provides overall direction and management for SICAN programs and services. 3. Establishes and maintains relationships with school, community, government, public library, corporate, and higher education staff. Represents SICAN and its advisory body at external functions and serves on local and regional committees that focus on postsecondary issues. 4. Seeks sources of funding and support for SICAN core services and program expansion; identifies funding sources, develops proposals, and ensures cost-effective use of funds. 5. Oversees data gathering systems to assess progress toward objectives and services provided. Prepares specific reports as required by funding sources as well as ongoing reports to evaluate services and activities. Makes modifications to programs and services as indicated. 6. Oversees progress toward SICAN objectives; establishes and maintains relationships with target schools, develops systems for record-keeping and service delivery, participates in professional activities that promote educational opportunities for under-represented students and families, and ensures that program staff works cooperatively within target schools. 7. Supervises staff and manages personnel issues, including recruitment, training, performance evaluations and ongoing supervision of paid and volunteer staff. 8. Maintains relationships with advisory body and staff to ensure coordination of SICAN activities with efforts of sponsor and host organizations. 9. Oversees development of print and electronic publications for the SICAN, including informational hand-outs, public relations materials, a website, newsletters and other materials that increase visibility and awareness of services and promote postsecondary education. 10. Facilitates workshops, information sessions and other activities to inform students and parents about postsecondary and financial aid opportunities. Provides individual advising as needed. 11. Provides overall management for technical operations within SICAN. 12. Keeps informed of current issues related to postsecondary education, especially for under-represented populations, and with city and regional initiatives that impact SICAN services and programs. Develops mechanisms to ensure that SICAN staff and volunteers are aware of issues and their impact on SICAN operations. 13. Provides administrative support for SICAN advisory body; works with head of advisory body to determine membership, meeting agendas, and activities. 14. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Required: Bachelor’s degree; at least three years experience with program management, staff supervision and budget management. Must have very strong organizational, communication and technical skills. Demonstrated leadership in building organizations and leading groups to create results. Demonstrated ability to recruit, train and lead volunteers in support of a mission. Preferred: Knowledge of and experience with a variety of funding sources. Knowledge of financial aid sources, college admissions practices, higher education programs and resources.
