*Who We Are*
The Center for Asian Pacific American Women ("The Center") is a national
nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing the challenges facing APA
women and to nurturing stewardship within our communities by:
o expanding leadership capacity
o fostering awareness of APA issues
o creating a supportive network of APA women
o strengthening community through positive change.
The Center is committed to being at the forefront of defining new leadership
as exhibited by the design of our own Whole Person Leadership Model.TM
*The National APAWLI Signature Program*
The National APAWLI Signature Program selects Asian Pacific American women
with 8+ years of work/community experience and who are already viewed by
their organizations, communities, and/or families as capable, talented, high
achievers. This intense learning experience brings together women from a
diversity of backgrounds, ages, careers and interests.
The APAWLI fellows convene for 3 sessions over a seven-month period with
each session focusing on a different area of leadership development. The
first area is foundational and addresses the question: "Who am I as a whole
person leader?" This involves self-reflection as well as understanding the
concrete leadership behaviors and attributes of a whole person leader. The
second session focuses on specific skills to be an effective whole person
leader — especially through the ups and downs of leading — and the third
highlights role models and different approaches to leadership. In addition,
during the third session, fellows will identify their next steps for moving
beyond the Program.
The Program draws APA women leaders together, supports their growth and
urges these exceptional women to stride into the world and give back to
their communities. During the program, each fellow is required to develop
and implement a learning project that will benefit at least 25 people.
Note: The Center for APA Women, formerly known as APAWLI – Asian Pacific
American Women's Leadership Institute changed our name to reflect our
expanded mission. We retained the well-known APAWLI name for our flagship
leadership program.
