Subject: Sacred Conversations on Race - Sunday, August 10 3 pm, Portland

Several months ago after the flashfire of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright on racial
issues and Barack Obama's response in Philadelphia, many church leaders
sought ways to engage their congregations and local communities about
building community.

A process of SACRED CONVERSATIONS ON RACE emerged. A full page ad in USA
Today was placed http://www.ucc.org/assets/pdfs/usatodayad.pdf A Faceook
page was created. And one UCC conference website in Connecticut even
collated resource materials and pastoral statements:
http://www.ctconfucc.org/sacredconversation/

This Sunday, the Rev. Linda Jaramillo, Executive Minister for the Justice
and Witness Ministries, will be speaking about how the Sacred Conversations
have been conducted, and how our communities in the Northwest can foster
these important gatherings.

Pleased share this info widely and join us on Sunday, August 10, from 3 pm
to 4:30 pm, Ainworth United Church of Christ, 2941 NE Ainsworth, Portland
Oregon, to hear our fine sister, who was raised in Washington County,
graduated from Portland State University, served with the Multnomah County
Health Department, and gave much leadership to our community until 2006 when
she was elected to one of the top five executive positions in the United
Church of Christ, headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio.

An RSVP to me would be helpful, though not necessary.

Atentamente,

Andrea Cano
