talkin' bout is an online discussion series that brings together
educators, activists and youth to participate in a public conversation
on the network website about timely and important topics in liberatory
education. From Tuesday, April 22 to Wednesday, April 23 a panel will
answer questions posted to an online discussion board about the history
of education for liberation, comparing modern-day freedom schools with
their historical predecessors. The conversation will take place on the
website of the <http://www.edliberation.org/> Education for Liberation
Network. Please join us by posting questions and comments for the
panelists and participants.

This discussion is linked to the publication of Teach Freedom, a
collection of essays about education for liberation in the African
American tradition. David Stovall, teacher and professor at the
University of Illinois at Chicago, says about Teach Freedom:

This compilation is a must read for those who work in solidarity with
young people to change our condition.

In the column on the right-hand side of the

Payne.
