Dear Colleagues,
I wanted to pass along this outstanding youth voice opportunity.
Apologies for any cross postings.
Help inspire a New Generation of Healthy Kids
Apply for the Alliance for a Healthier Generation's Youth Advisory Board
The Alliance for a Healthier Generation is bringing together a select
group of young people from all across the country to serve on our
inaugural Youth Advisory Board.
We're looking for kids and teenagers with unique experiences and
opinions to shape our programs and generate fresh ideas on how to make
healthy living the norm, not the exception.
As a Youth Advisory Board member, you'll get to:
* Attend an in-person meeting with the entire membership of the Youth
Advisory Board in Kansas City--don't worry, it's totally free for you
and one parent or guardian!
* Join monthly conference calls to take care of business
* Represent the Alliance for a Healthier Generation at meetings,
conferences and in your community
* Make YOUR voice heard on the best ways to empower youth toward good
health
As a board member, you'll need to roll up your sleeves about two hours a
month for critical thinking, good fun, new friends, and high profile
leadership. You'll work to find the best ways to reach kids and
teenagers to eat right, move more and make their communities the
healthiest ever.
Applicants must be between the ages of 8-17 years old and live in the
United States, including US Territories.
To request an application, contact:

The story behind the Alliance for a Healthier Generation:
Former President Bill Clinton partnered with the American Heart
Association after his heart surgery to address the issue of heart health
in the U.S. After exploring options together, it was decided that one of
the most important issues facing Americans today is the epidemic of
childhood obesity, which can lead to early heart disease, diabetes and
other health problems. Co-led by California Governor Arnold
Schwarzenegger, the goal of the Alliance is to stop the nationwide
increase in childhood obesity by 2010 and to take bold, innovative steps
to help all children live longer and healthier lives. The Alliance is
having a positive impact focusing on its four key initiatives, the
Healthy Schools Program, Industry, Healthcare, and Kids' Movement.
