Title: Assistant / Associate Professor of
Science Education

Position: 9-month, full-time academic position,
Assistant or Associate Professor (tenure-track)

Position: The Department of Teaching and Learning at Washington State
University is a doctoral/research-extensive institution with multiple
campuses. We are seeking creative scholars interested in
cross-disciplinary collaboration in research, teaching, and service and
invite applications for a permanent, nine-month, tenure-eligible faculty
position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.
Context: Pullman is located in the rolling landscape of the Palouse,
with easy access to Spokane, Seattle, and Portland. We are near areas of
outstanding natural beauty, and offer an inclusive environment with
excellent schools, good quality of life, and superb recreational
possibilities.
Responsibilities:
* Conduct scholarly research in science education
* Support graduate programs at the master's and doctoral levels
* Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in science education,
including methods for K-8 teachers
* Assist in developing and maintaining collaborative partnerships
with professionals in schools, among university peers, and community
agencies
* Participate in an interdisciplinary team committed to effective
teacher education;
* Assist in recruitment, retention, and advising of students
* Participate in professional communities at the university,
college, local, state, and national levels
* Solicit external funding in collaboration with colleagues
Required Qualifications:
* Earned doctorate at time of employment in science education, or
in education or science with an emphasis on science education or related
field
* Demonstrated record of scholarly potential
* Two years experience teaching experience with K-12 students
Preferred Qualifications:
* Expertise in middle school science education
* Expertise in environmental education
* Expertise in science curriculum and instruction and related
learning theories, cultural theories and/or research methods
* Demonstrated ability to teach at the post-secondary level with
preservice and/or inservice teachers
* Involvement in collaborative relationships with K-12 schools,
university peers, and/or community agencies
* Demonstrated ability in grant writing
