Assistant Professor
Educational Studies
Curriculum and Instruction
The Department of Educational Studies in the College of Education at the
University of Wyoming is pleased to announce a search for a tenure-track
(nine-month academic appointment) scholar-practitioner/teacher educator
faculty member to begin August, 2008. All candidates who have (or will
have) a completed Ed.D. or Ph.D. in education or related field are invited
to apply.
Responsibilities
Candidates who apply should have academic interests related to curriculum,
instruction and/or teacher education. SCHOLARLY ACTIVITY expectations
include a demonstrated commitment to a research and publication agenda.
Preference will be given to scholars who have academic interests in and
experience with some aspect of multicultural/social justice education (e.g.,
race and education, urban education, language diversity, African American
education, disability and race studies, globalization/internationalization,
etc.). Candidates will be TEACHING multi-disciplinary courses on schooling,
teaching and learning, and educational foundations from a multicultural
perspective. They will be expected to offer graduate level classes via
distance technologies periodically. In addition, opportunities for
teaching/advising in the Curriculum and Instruction master¹s and doctoral
programs are available. SERVICE includes commitments to the department,
college, university and professional organizations.
Requirements and Preferred Qualifications
· Earned Ph.D. or Ed.D. in education or related field at time of
employment (required);
· Three or more years teaching experience in Pre K-12 classrooms or its
equivalent (required);
· Experiences with multicultural/multilingual student populations,
cross-cultural teaching experiences, and/or an ability to speak more than
one language (desired);
· Experiences with and academic interests in multicultural/social
justice education (desired); and,
· Experience with Professional Development Sites, performance-based
assessments, and classroom and school-based inquiry (desired).
