Try Antioch University/New England located in Keene NH. Antioch has the
perspective you are looking for but I do not know how embedded it is in
their master's in education program. They love inquiries so be clear as
to what you are looking for. Good luck.

Subject: (NAME-MCE) Multicultural Education Master's Programs?

Hello,

I am looking to enter a Master's in Education program in the fall of
2008.
I'm seeking a program that combines multicultural education, social
justice
education, and critical pedagogy. While I have found one or two programs
that really excite me (namely the Social Justice Education program at
UMass
Amherst), I have not been able to find many that combine
preparation/certification to become a classroom teacher with a critical
study of social group formation, oppression, and power dynamics. Many of
the
programs that I have come across appear to be geared either toward
individuals who wish to pursue careers in educational advocacy,
curriculum
reform, and/or the non-profit sector, or toward people who solely want
to be
classroom teachers. From what I've researched, most of the theoretical
elements are concentrated in the former. Can anyone recommend any
graduate
programs that are more in keeping with multicultural education in a more
holistic sense? I would greatly appreciate any advice you may be able to
offer. Thank you very much in advance for your time.

best,

Joanna
