(NAME-MCE) communities that support schools

I am conducting a project in Ithaca, NY of trying to encourage area 
employers to offer paid release time to employees so they can 
volunteer to support the schools. I am particularly involved in the 
recruitment of community members to serve on interview and screening 
committees for the school district with the goal of diversifying the 
school workforce.  I am interested if there are other communities 
where such an effort is being made and would appreciate hearing from 
anyone who knows about such an initiative.
