Thank you Gina. That was an interesting experience if nothing else. I
also find interesting the comment from a list member that people believe
that Al Jazerra is an instrument of the West. I clearly have a lot to
learn. I can not comment on the content of the video (some statements
are really gross distortions of my reality) other than to say like all
TV spots, dialogue is clearly not the issue here but contentiousness,
and is a format for abbreviated thinking. I'm not sophisticated enough
on the nuances of linguistic tonality. To my untrained ear, the speaker
sounds very angry. That may be my cultural ignorance revealing itself.
If I'm calling this correctly, however, clearly there is history to this
conversation that we are not privy to in this clip.
I think your point in sharing was to let people know that a woman broke
some TV barrier, not that you ascribe to the statements the woman made.
