Two New Positions


The Department of Education and Human Development at the State  
University of New York College at Brockport is accepting applications  
for two tenure-track Assistant Professor of Literacy Education  
positions, grades 1-6, in our dual certificate inclusive education  
programs.

Brief Description of Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in literacy education
Participate in scholarship activities
Participate in service activities
Work collaboratively with department faculty in dual certification  
programs
Participate in program implementation and assessment

Required Qualifications
Earned doctorate (ABD considered) in literacy, curriculum and  
instruction, or related area
Teaching experience in elementary school
Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and/or graduate literacy  
education courses
Demonstrated ability to work with socioculturally diverse population  
and prepare culturally competent teachers
Evidence of scholarly productivity or ability to produce scholarship
Ability to use technology to support teaching and learning

Preferred Qualifications
Background in additional areas of expertise such as critical  
literacy, language disabilities, inclusion, bilingual, multicultural  
education, research methods
Successful college teaching experience
Familiarity with IRA/NCATE standards
Successful experience working in an inclusive setting

education

Working collaboratively in our dual certification programs

Required Qualifications

curriculum and instruction, or related area
Evidence of successful teaching experience in grades 1-6
Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and/or graduate teacher  
education courses
Demonstrated ability to work with socio-culturally diverse  
populations and prepare culturally competent teachers
Evidence of scholarly activity
Ability to use technology to support teaching and learning

Preferred Qualifications

Required Qualifications
1.   Earned doctorate (ABD considered) in special education,  
disability studies, or related area

2.   Teaching experience as a public school special education teacher  
and/or special education resource/consultant teacher and/or  
experience working in an inclusive setting

3.   Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and graduate special  
education courses

4.   Demonstrated ability to work with socioculturally diverse  
population and prepare culturally competent teachers

5.   Evidence of scholarly productivity or ability to produce  
scholarship

6.   Ability to use technology to support learning and teaching


Preferred Qualifications
Successful college teaching experience
Preparation in K-12 special education
Successful teaching experience in intermediate, middle-school, or  
high-school
Familiarity with CEC/NCATE standards
Background in significant disabilities
