 Dear Friend,

Just a quick note to remind you that the College Board's inaugural
conference addressing issues relevant to the education of Latino students
is 2 weeks away.

The conference "PREPÁRATE(TM): EDUCATING LATINOS FOR THE FUTURE OF AMERICA"
will be held in Los Angeles. Join us at the Westin Los Angeles Airport Hotel
on Thursday, June 14 and Friday, June 15.

At the College Board, our mission is to connect students to college success
and opportunity. Along with our more than 5,000 member colleges,
universities, and secondary schools, we are committed to the twin principles
of excellence and equity in education -- a commitment we embody in all of
our programs, services, and activities.

Prepárate: Educating Latinos for the Future of America, will highlight
programs and practices that successfully prepare Latino students for
academic excellence, college success and meaningful careers. The conference
will focus on issues that inspire, inform, energize, and help educators at
all levels better prepare Latino students for meaningful and rewarding
lives.  Plenary and breakout sessions will explore ways to ensure that all
students have equal access to higher education and are ready for the
challenges of the twenty-first century.

The robust program has 55 sessions drawing presenters from throughout the
nation. Featured among the speakers will be Dr. Raymund Paredes,
commissioner of higher education at the Texas Higher Education Coordinating
Board and Dr. Don Hossler, professor of educational leadership & policy
studies and director of the Project on Academic Success. I have attached a
copy of the "almost final" program for your perusal.
