(NAME-MCE) Diverse authors for high school English

I am wondering if anyone knows of some quality books written by under
represented populations (GLBT, people of color, women, disabled, etc.) that
are appropriate and of interest to high school aged children.  Our high
school is requesting recommendations of this matter and I would love to be
able to recommend some authors and books that are often not read at this
level.  Thank you in advance!
