Associate Dean of Student Affairs/Office of Student Group Advising

Reporting to the Dean of Student Affairs, the Associate Dean of Student
Affairs/Office of Student Group Advising (OSGA) is responsible for the
overall development, leadership, and planning for the Office of Student
Group Advising. The Associate Dean supervises two associate directors,
serves as a member of the Dean of Student Affairs senior staff, and
collaborates with other departments within Student Affairs and
throughout the University on issues of organizational and developmental
advisement to political, social action, religious, humanitarian,
identity conscious and special interest student organizations. The
Associate Dean of Students/OSGA works in partnership with the Associate
Dean of Student Affairs/Student Development and Activities & Residential
Programs and Associate Dean of Student Affairs/Multicultural Affairs to
provide leadership and vision for the Community Development unit within
Student Affairs.
An earned bachelor's and master's degree are required. Additionally, a
minimum of seven years of related experience, preferably in the areas of
social, political, religious and community-sensitive special interest
programming and activism; counseling; student activities; and/or
leadership training are required. The successful candidate will have
experience in staff supervision and possess excellent written and spoken
communication skills, as well as knowledge of student development theory
and leadership development theory. Professional experience working in a
complex urban organizational setting is required, preferably with
experience in higher education, community organizing, and/or large scale
and complex event planning.
