5) Japan Foundation Center for Global Partnership Offers  Funding
for Education Projects in U.S.  South and Midwest

Deadline: Rolling 

The Japan Foundation Center  for Global Partnership 
( http://cgp.org/ ) has announced funding  opportunities 
for small-scale education initiatives in the southern and  
midwestern United States. CGP's Education Program seeks to 
increase  awareness and understanding of Japan in these regions 
through support of  teacher training and related programs that 
address the needs of the K-12  student and teacher community.

Grants of up to $5,000 each will be  awarded for projects con-
ducted from May 1 to December 31, 2007. All  projects must
include an event component. Nonprofit organizations from  the
following regions are eligible to apply: Midwest (Illinois,
Indiana,  Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska,
North Dakota, Ohio,  South Dakota, and Wisconsin); South (Alabama, 
Arkansas, Florida, Georgia,  Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, 
North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina,  Tennessee, Texas, 
Virginia, and West Virginia).

Proposals will be  accepted on a rolling basis. Previous grantees
are eligible to apply again if  the proposed project includes a
new target audience or contains substantive  changes.
