Jennifer,
I was reading all the previous messages on the listserv and came across this message from you. I was very glad to see a message dealing with educators who are nervous or do not know how to teach those students who are "poor". This has always been a concern of mine. I would really like to teach inner city children once I am done with my schooling. However, I have never experienced teaching children in this situation. I grew up in a middle class family from a very small town; however, the school I went to was fairly wealthy. This is also the school that I work at now.

I was very glad when I came across the part in your message that informed us of a great book to read that deals with this situation. I ordered the book online and am in the process of reading it. It is a great resource to me. I was wondering if you or anyone else has any other good books that deals with the topic of education and poverty stricken students. I would love to have as much information as possible because this is truly the area that I want to teach.

Sincerely,
Ashley Pinkerton
